Protect your Computer online and enjoy safer surfing
To safeguard against virus's, spyware, adware, Trojans, Phishing
scams, hoaxes, chain letters or anything else that attacks your
computer or interferes with your surfing read on;
Before connecting to the internet or make sure you have the
following installed:-
1) Firewall
2) Anti Virus Program
3) Spyware/Adware Program
Obviously, if it's your very first time on the Internet, it's
most likely your PC is spanking brand new and is protected by
Norton. If not, quickly download the programs I've recommended
below.
My Recommendations (all these programs are free):-

Once you have these installed, remember to update them on a
regular basis e.g. Once a week "Remember, your PC is only as
good as your back-ups!!!"
Also BEWARE of email scams! Emails arrive usually via POP3
which means anyone can intercept and read them, and change the
content. It's like sending a postcard written in pencil through the
post.
Golden Rules of email
Never open an email if you don't know who it's from
Never open an attachment if you are unsure, especially, if it is
from someone you don't know. If you know the sender, ask if they
sent you the email.
If you receive an email from your Bank, Building Society etc,
asking to confirm your log in details DO NOT REPLY!!! This is
known as a "Phishing" email. Companies will never ask via email.
If you receive an email asking to pass on to a number of your
friends, whatever the reason, DONT!! These emails are
'Hoaxes' All they do is slow down the email Bandwidth and expose
your address book to virtual spammers, and spread virus's more
rapidly.
There are quite a few programs out there that can equally do the
job of protecting your PC. The choice is yours.
